An investigation is underway after a shootout involving a police officer in Statesboro, Georgia, as reported by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). The incident occurred late Tuesday night, where 19-year-old Anthony De’Jarion Kent of Vidalia, was wounded.
Responding to a call at Copper Beech Apartments regarding an auto break-in, a Statesboro Police Department officer encountered Kent inside a parked vehicle. A confrontation ensued, involving an exchange of gunfire. Kent attempted to quickly run away, but was apprehended by law enforcement officials. Both he and the officer, who was also injured during the incident, were transported to a local hospital. The officer is currently in stable condition.
Kent, after receiving treatment for his injuries, was released from the hospital and placed in the custody of the Bulloch County Jail.
