A Georgia woman claimed a divine command spurred her to unleash a barrage of bullets on unsuspecting drivers along a Florida interstate, wounding two, before law enforcement put an end to her shooting rampage, officials said.
Identified by authorities as Taylon Nichelle Celestine, the 22-year-old reportedly embarked from a hotel with a chilling declaration of her intent to staff, and soon after, took to Interstate 10 in the Florida Panhandle, where the violence unfolded just a short drive from the Alabama border.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Celestine's gunfire first found its mark within 5 miles, where a passing car became the inaugural notch in her destructive spree, the driver sustaining an arm injury from shattering glass. The onslaught continued as she targeted a second vehicle, the unlucky motorist struck in the neck – an injury requiring hospital treatment – reported by WABE.
The brief reign of terror, spanning approximately 16 miles of asphalt, culminated in Celestine's arrest. State troopers halted her vehicle and discovered an AR-15 rifle and a 9mm handgun. She was subsequently taken into custody and housed at the Holmes County jail facing serious criminal charges including attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and improper discharge of a firearm.
Further details on Celestine’s legal representation or her bail status remained undisclosed by the Florida Highway Patrol.
