A Phoenix man's life ended abruptly earlier this month in what police describe as an isolated shooting incident allegedly by a Glendale resident. The suspect, Michael Villareal, 37, has since been apprehended and is facing first-degree murder and aggravated assault charges for the death of 33-year-old Jordan Gonzalez.

The tragic event unfolded in the early morning hours of April 2, with Peoria police officers responding to reports around 3:30 a.m. of a man suffering what was believed to be a seizure on the streets near 83rd Avenue and Jefferson Street, FOX 10 Phoenix reported. Upon arrival, officers discovered the sobering truth that the man, identified as Gonzalez, was not in the throes of a seizure but had been shot and ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

Details on how Villareal and Gonzalez knew each other have been sparse. However, officials emphasized that the shooting appears to be a singular occurrence involving the two men, suggesting no further danger to the community according to statements obtained by the Peoria police.

The break in the case came on April 11 when Villareal was arrested at his Glendale home around 2 p.m., as per 12 News. Afterward, he was interviewed and booked into Maricopa County Jail.
