A routine traffic stop turned into a significant drug bust for deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office after complaints rolled in about rising illegal drug activity. A vehicle matching the description of one involved in narcotics distribution was pulled over by deputies in the area of Kuykendahl Rd. This operation unfolded yesterday, with details emerging from Constable Herman’s Office and shared on social media.

Rumaldo Perez, the driver of the suspect vehicle, had an abrupt shift in plans when Constable Canine "Tejas Briones" and his handler Deputy Aspras, ushered onto the scene, put his nose to work. The canine, an integral part of the law enforcement unit, was the key in uncovering a veritable trove of illicit substances. He signaled the presence of drugs, leading deputies to carry out a thorough search of the vehicle.

The result was a substantial haul of ten kilograms of methamphetamine and an accompanying loaded handgun. In the aftermath, Perez found himself in custody, facing serious charges. According to a Facebook post by Constable Mark Herman, "Rumaldo Perez was arrest and booked into the Harris County Jail charged with Possession with the Intent to Manufacture and Deliver a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon."

The legal proceedings for Perez are just beginning, with his bond not yet set in the 182nd District Court.
