A routine traffic stop in Harris County led to the arrest of Eric Velasquez, a previously convicted felon, now facing charges of possessing a firearm. The arrest, carried out by deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office, occurred in the 12900 block of Regency Wood Drive on the evening of April 15, according to official reports on Facebook.
Deputies initially stopped Velasquez for a traffic violation, but an ensuing verification of his identity revealed more serious concerns. It turned out, Velasquez had an open blue warrant, which indicates he was wanted for a parole or probation violation. A subsequent search by the law enforcement personnel discovered that Velasquez was armed, a prohibited act for someone with his criminal record.
Constable Mark Herman's office stated, "Eric Velasquez was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for his warrant and charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm. His bond was set at $5,000.00 out of the 488th District Court."
