Hayward Police officers sprang into action following a shooting in an industrial stretch of the city. Witnesses at the scene directed law enforcement to a man reportedly seen clutching a rifle-style weapon, according to the local department's statement.
Although initially the firearms were not discovered on the suspect during a search, which yielded suspected narcotics, the man, a confirmed felon, could not escape the law for long. An intensive investigation quickly turned up signs of gunfire and suggested that the culprit may have stashed the weapons before the officers arrived, the police department indicated on their official Facebook page.
With the assistance of K9 Arwin, officers commenced a thorough search, recovering three guns — two hidden amongst nearby bushes and a third from within the man's vehicle. The weapons recovery operation ended without injury to any community members or law enforcement personnel.
The suspect, who remains unnamed, faces a slew of charges including illegal possession of firearms and narcotics. "Luckily no one was hurt during this incident," the Hayward Police Department stated, adding a note of gratitude toward the witnesses whose cooperation played a crucial role in the resolution of this potentially lethal disturbance.
