Houston residents can look forward to a breezy start and a potentially stormy conclusion to their weekend, according to the latest weather forecasts. The National Weather Service (NWS) has predicted that today's weather will be mostly sunny with a high near 81 degrees, and winds picking up in the afternoon with possible gusts as high as 30 mph. This evening, the skies will remain mostly cloudy with a low around 69 degrees and breezy conditions continuing.

As the weekend progresses, Houstonians are advised to keep an eye on the sky, especially on Sunday afternoon. The NWS is forecasting a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., with conditions remaining mostly cloudy and a high near 82 degrees. The chance of precipitation will maintain through the early part of the week, with higher likelihoods of showers and thunderstorms on Monday and Tuesday, with chances peaking at 70 percent on Tuesday night, the NWS stated.

Moreover, the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) warns of a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms from the Sabine to Wabash Valleys on Sunday. "Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible during the late afternoon to mid-evening," said the SPC. They have identified isolated severe hail and localized severe wind gusts as potential threats before the storms weaken after sunset.

While the start of the weekend may bring warmer temperatures and increased cloudiness, the NWS Houston has indicated via X that low rain chances will return to the area on Sunday, then increase into the first half of the next week. "A warming trend can be expected along with an increase in clouds," they wrote, signaling a mixed bag of weather conditions for Southeast Texas and necessitating a watchful eye for those with outdoor plans.
