
Houston braces for turbulent weather ahead, with the National Weather Service forecasting a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms early today before conditions clear up, gusting winds throughout are expected to reach as high as 30 mph, signaling a breezy and partly sunny day with a high near 75 degrees. Tonight's outlook predicts mostly clear skies with a brisk northwest wind maintaining gusts that could top out at 35 mph, offering residents a cooler respite as temperatures dip to around 56, the National Weather Service states.
Thursday is set to bask in full sunshine, steadily climbing to a high near 78 degrees with northwest winds between 10 to 15 mph kicking up gusts up to 25 mph, the skies will remain clear through the night as temperatures settle around 54 degrees, the promising trend continues into the weekend with warm sunny days forecasted, Friday will see highs reaching near 80 and a partly cloudy evening, similarly, Saturday's conditions appear to remain mostly sunny also nearing an 80-degree high.
Concerns escalate, however, as the Storm Prediction Center anticipates severe thunderstorms in the broader region, with "a slight risk of severe thunderstorms in the Upper Ohio Valley and parts of the Southeast." Thursday may bring a few tornadoes, scattered damaging winds, and isolated large hail, notably across the Upper Ohio Valley in the afternoon, and Southeast Georgia into central Florida could witness damaging winds and a few tornadoes from Thursday morning into the afternoon.
Meanwhile, mariners take heed, as a Special Marine Warning has been issued for waters from High Island to Freeport and Galveston Bay until 6:00 AM CDT due to imminent severe weather conditions threatening the safety of the vessels and crews; mariners are urged to exercise extreme caution or seek harbor as the system moves through.
