A young Houston man's Sunday evening took a tragic turn when he was shot outside his apartment complex while walking his dog. The victim, identified as 23-year-old Christensen Hill, was killed in the parking lot of the Co-Op Summer Street apartments in northwest Houston, according to KTRK.

Houston Police Department reports that Hill was approached by two men around 11 p.m. He was then fatally shot before the suspects fled in his four-door Cadillac sedan. As of now, no arrests have to quickly been made. Hill's sister, Kristian Rockemore called the incident an unimaginable loss. "He really didn’t deserve what happened to him," she told the Houston Chronicle. She also expressed her belief that her brother might have been the target of the attack as his wallet and phone were not taken.

Residents of the highly residential neighborhood have expressed their concerns following the incident. Using the ABC13 Neighborhood Safety Tracker, it was revealed there were no homicides in the area in 2023, but two in 2022. Assaults have risen to 518 in 2023 from 441 in the previous year, whereas robberies were slightly down with 38 reported in 2023 versus 49 in 2022.

In response to the shooting, the apartment complex management has decided to hire a company to patrol the property from dusk till dawn. Jennifer Clark, a resident living next door to Co-Op Summer Street, said, "I'll definitely be a lot more aware," she informed ABC13. The Houston Police Department had no additional information to provide this afternoon but did hold a scheduled meeting to discuss community concerns on Tuesday.
