A grim discovery was made at a southwest Houston apartment complex parking lot yesterday morning where a man, identified only as Hispanic, was found dead after being run over twice. According to ABC13, surveillance footage captured a dark gray Ford F-150 hitting the man, backing up over him, and then running over him again in the incident that occurred around 6 a.m. in the 8100 block of Sands Point near the Sharpstown area.
Police who received a call about a man lying at 8100 Sands Point Drive were initially under the impression it was a hit-and-run accident. However, the gruesome surveillance footage raised questions, showing the person — later pronounced dead on arrival — being struck by a gray truck that then perpetrated the act a second time. This information was shared by FOX26 Houston.
The driver involved in the fatal encounter did not get out to check on the victim after running him over, noted Sgt. Michael Errington of the Houston Police Department in a statement obtained by ABC13. "We don't know what the motive for the crime at this time is. Whether it was a motor vehicle that was stolen and the owner was trying to stop it or this was some kind of argument, that is still to be determined," he added.
Neighbors provided the shocking surveillance video to Alex Bozarjian, a reporter for ABC13, seemingly revealing each detail of the tragic event. The police presence at the scene was heavy, where they cordoned off the area with crime scene tape for a few hours after the discovery of the deceased man.
