Tragedy struck last Saturday when Houston police discovered two bodies with gunshot wounds in a car at 9500 Ravensworth Drive at approximately 7:05 p.m. Law enforcement sources say a preliminary investigation suggests a murder-suicide scenario where a 44-year-old woman, behind the wheel, was fatally shot by a 44-year-old man in the passenger seat, who thereafter appears to have fatally turned the gun on himself.
The identities of both individuals are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, and police are continuing to piece together what drove this deadly encounter. According to a statement obtained by the City of Houston News, HPD Homicide Division Detectives L. Patterson and N. Henderson were on the scene shortly after HPD patrol officers responded to the initial report of a person down.
This incident has added another chapter to the city's ongoing struggle with gun violence. Emergency medical personnel pronounced both the male and the female deceased at the scene. As the HPD Homicide Division continues its investigation, the background and the nature of the relationship between the two remains cloudy.
