A teenager has been slapped with charges in connection to a March shooting that left a 61-year-old man wounded during an alleged robbery in Houston, according to the authorities. The 16-year-old male, whose identity is protected due to his juvenile status, is accused of shooting the man at 8900 Interchange Drive on the night of March 13, as stated in a press release.

The Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities confirmed that the suspect was arrested on April 16 and has been charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. The victim, who was transported to an area hospital in stable condition, had returned to his parked vehicle only to find it had been broken into.

Police received a robbery call around 11:05 p.m. and arrived to find the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. "HPD patrol officers responded to a robbery call in the street at the above address and found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported him to the hospital for treatment.", HPD Robbery Division Detective K. Edie was quoted in the press release.

An initial scuffle erupted after an unidentified black male, later identified as the juvenile, approached the victim to ask to use his phone, only to then demand his property. When the victim tried to defend himself, the juvenile suspect proceeded to shoot him more than once before fleeing on foot, the report noted.
