Residents of Houston can look forward to a spell of pleasant weather over the next couple of days, with a sunny sky and rising temperatures into the mid-80s. Today, Houstonians woke up to a clear sky with temperatures bottoming out at a comfortable 55 degrees. Stepping into Thursday, the warmth is dialing up as highs are expected to hit near 82 degrees, while the wind shifts from south to west in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

In anticipation of the weekend, there’s a change in the weather pattern. Starting Saturday night, breezy conditions will usher in a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms post 1 a.m. The probability of rain continues its upward trend over the next several days, with the forecast indicating a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms from Sunday into mid-next week, as confessed by the Storm Prediction Center. However, despite the gathering clouds, severe thunderstorms are not on the radar yet for the great state of Texas.

The National Weather Service in Houston posted on X, "Another day of pleasant weather for #Houston! It's going to be nice and sunny through the end of the work week here in SE Texas." They also noted that while rain is not expected to be a showstopper over the next couple of days, the chances of rainfall will kick up a notch as the weekend wanes.

Looking at the broader weather scene, Friday throughout the United States promises to be predominantly tranquil, with "NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST" as per the Storm Prediction Center's day two convective outlook. They explained that with an upper-level trough vacating the Atlantic Seaboard on Friday, and an upper-level low shifting from northern California to the Pacific Northwest, only isolated thunderstorms are expected across the northern Rockies and northern High Plains. Getting ready for Monday, locals can expect more of the cloudy skies with the consistent 40 percent storm chance and breezy conditions that will persist into the following days.
