
A man was stabbed to death in Northwest Washington late Thursday, and police are now investigating the homicide, according to officials.
Metropolitan Police responded to a call about a man down at approximately 11:12 p.m. in the 3000 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. On arrival, they discovered the victim, Marcus Boatwright, a 45-year-old man who was suffering from a stab wound. Despite the efforts of DC Fire and EMS, who undertook life-saving measures after a fatal stabbing that was ultimately unsuccessful, Boatwright was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials have said Boatwright was of no fixed address. His death comes amidst growing concerns over the increasing rates of violent crime in the district.
As of this report, no suspects have been apprehended and the motive for the stabbing remains unclear. Law enforcement is seeking information from the public to help solve this crime which left a community shaken by the loss of life. Witnesses or anyone with information is encouraged to come forward and assist in bringing closure to the decedent's family and friends.
The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch continues its investigation. The authorities urge anyone with information about this incident to contact the police. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this, or any other homicide in the District of Columbia.
