Flames engulfed a two-story Fort Worth home and rapidly spread to a neighboring house and a backyard shed on Sunday afternoon, prompting a robust response from firefighters. According to the Fort Worth Fire Department, the department was alerted at 4 pm to the blaze in the 1300 block of Pheasant Run Trail in North Fort Worth.
The fire, which was seen by arriving crews emanating from an outbuilding, had also taken hold of an adjacent residence due to the proximity of the structures. Firefighters aggressively engaged the blaze, laying down lines to quell the escalating flames. However, their offensive was cut short after 20 minutes as the fire breached through the home's roof, compromising the integrity of the edifice and forcing an evacuation. The incident commander on the scene called for a second alarm, bringing additional resources and personnel to battle the inferno.
Onlookers watched as the fire transitioned to a defensive fight, with crews working from the outside in attempts to subdue the flames. A total of 28 units from FWFD, along with Haslet Fire Rescue and Saginaw FD, comprising 60 firefighters, descended upon the scene. The American Red Cross is stepping in to assist two displaced families; a household of two adults and two children from the primary residence and two adults from the second affected home. Fortunately, there were no physical injuries reported.
