A man accused of stealing an ambulance in Clayton County led police on a harrowing pursuit that ended in a collision near Tara Boulevard and Dixon Road. Ladarius Williams, as per FOX 5 Atlanta, now faces a litany of charges including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and felony fleeing. The ordeal began at Piedmont Henry Hospital where, instead of being safely transported, Williams hijacked the emergency vehicle.
Medics, caught in the whirlwind of Williams' desperate flight, were obliged to make a perilous leap from the moving ambulance. According to WSBTV, the chase continued into Clayton County, where law enforcement from multiple agencies joined forces in a relentless but futile attempt to terminate the chase using spike strips and stop sticks.
As Williams tore through the residential areas of Clayton County and Morrow, his reckless abandon would not yield to numerous PIT maneuver attempts by the troopers. This frantic pursuit culminated when stop sticks deflated the ambulance's rear tires, a desperate tactic that failed to bring the vehicle to a halt until a final PIT maneuver finally sent the ambulance crashing against a pole.
