A man was brought into custody after an officer-involved shooting terror shook Glendale, Surprise Police Department reported, detailed by FOX 10 Phoenix. The incident unfolded near the busy crossroads of Glendale and 51st Avenues, where 26-year-old Gohan Kancab was accused of brandishing a simulated weapon during a store robbery, leading to his eventual arrest and a litany of charges, including aggravated assault with a simulated weapon, and more.

According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the apprehension happened after an officer, who has clocked in two years with the Glendale Police Department and a total of 11 years in law enforcement, confronted Kancab who was then near a bus stop - no other citizens or officers sustained injuries during the incident but Kancab, after being shot, was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries before being released to police custody.

As reported by ABC15, the situation escalated after officers received alerts of a robbery, with witnesses recounting a man "acting erratically" and waving what appeared to be a handgun; Kancab later faced charges for his conduct, which involved aggravated assault on a police officer and disorderly conduct involving weapons.

The officer, thrown into the fray after multiple calls for help, witnessed Kancab's erratic behavior and, upon seeing the suspect point the apparent weapon at him, discharged his firearm, striking Kancab. "The officer involved in the shooting is a two year veteran of the Glendale Police Department, with 11 total years of law enforcement service," Sgt. Randy Stewart of the Glendale Police Department was quoted in a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix, with further clarifications that the officer's body-worn and dash cameras were recording during the incident, providing crucial evidence for the investigation.
