Man Charged With Murder in Stabbing Death of Senior Resident at San Antonio Apartment ComplexSource: Bexar County Jail

An altercation at a San Antonio senior apartment complex turned deadly last weekend when a 36-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a 76-year-old resident to death. According to Fox San Antonio, the San Antonio Police Department apprehended Anthony Jerome Adams and charged him with murder following the incident that took place on the afternoon of April 20.

Officials responded to a call regarding a fight that seemed to rapidly escalate into a stabbing around 2:10 p.m. The suspect and victim apparently got into an argument, which lead to Adams allegedly stabbing Gary Battles in the chest. Battles, identified by authorities, was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by News 4 San Antonio.

Upon their arrival at the complex located near South Main Avenue and West Johnson Street, police discovered Adams in the parking lot, in possession of the knife believed to have been used in the fatal stabbing. He was promptly taken into custody without incident.

Adams, also suffering from cuts on his hands, was transported to the hospital for treatment before being booked. Both sources indicated the suspect was found on the first floor of the apartment complex and there was no immediate information made available about the nature of the argument or if the two men knew each other prior to the fatal confrontation.
