Tragedy struck early Monday morning when a man was fatally shot at his northwest-side residence. According to KENS5, the incident occurred in the 1600 block of French Place, where police say he had just returned from dropping his wife at work.
The victim, a man in his 60s, encountered a black sedan or SUV outside his home. Someone inside the vehicle unleashed four shots, prompting the man to rush inside and alert his family before the vehicle fled the scene. Despite taking such precautions to protect his loved ones – three children and a 46-year-old man were also in the house – the assailants returned, this time firing more shots, one of which tragically struck the older man, leading to his death at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Shell casings littered the street, painting a grim picture of the violence that had unfolded. FOX San Antonio detailed that about 15 shots in total were fired toward the house, with one bullet fatally wounding the victim with a headshot.
While the search for the perpetrator continues, police have stated that there were "several other shootings" south of the location, attempting now to connect the dots to see if these incidents are related. What is known is the echo of gunfire had been heard in the area roughly an hour before the fatal shooting, according to police statements.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the authorities.
