
A tragic incident occurred on the south side of San Antonio Friday morning when a man in his 70s drowned in a residential pool. The San Antonio police and fire departments were dispatched following a call regarding a drowning around 10:30 a.m. at a home on East Young Avenue, as per KENS 5.
Fire officials report that the elderly man was cleaning the pool when he fell in, a detail corroborated by the man's wife. She discovered him and pulled his body out of the water. Despite rigorous resuscitation efforts by the paramedics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. In a traumatic account to Express News, the wife recounted noticing her spouse by the pool earlier that morning, looking as if he were performing maintenance tasks before his fatal fall.
According to the preliminary report shared by the San Antonio police, the man's wife dived into the pool to rescue him and subsequently attempted CPR until additional family members could assist. However, the 75-year-old remained unresponsive and was ultimately pronounced deceased by the first responders.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has yet to release the identity of the man, along with a definitive cause of death; however, police believe the incident to be an accidental drowning.
