A grisly episode unfolded in Northwest Atlanta as police combed the area for clues following a shooting last night that left one man dead and a teenage girl injured. The chaos ensued near a local shopping center off James Jackson Parkway, just north of Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.
The Atlanta Police Department found a 34-year-old male victim with a fatal gunshot wound, leading to his swift transport to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased, the tragic outcome clouded by the hunt for a dark-colored car associated with the incident, information gleaned from surveillance footage by authorities struggling to connect the dots and apprehend the individual or individuals responsible. The search for motive and perpetrator continues.
While police were responding to the tragic scene, a separate but linked incident unfolded less than a mile-and-a-half east when a young woman, only 16, staggered into Atlanta Fire Station No. 22 along Hollywood Road NW with multiple gunshot wounds; her presence at the station was an alarming testament to the reach of the violence that the city of Atlanta too frequently witnesses. According to Atlanta News First, the teenager was rushed to an area hospital by ambulance.
Thus far, no arrests have been made in the connection with the shootings and the suspect, believed to be associated with a dark-colored car, remains at large detectives are piecing together witness statements and surveillance video however the task is daunting as the community reels and the victims' narratives are cut abruptly short. The APD is urging anyone with information to step forward and contact them at 404-658-6666 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477), where tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward if their information leads to an arrest and indictment.
