The 38-year-old was standing in an alley in the 5300 block of South Sacramento Avenue when the incident unfolded, sources report. The encounter led to gunfire, with the victim sustaining a bullet to his left hand despite the failed theft attempt. The assailant fled empty-handed from the scene, leaving behind questions and a trail of violence. Following the shooting, a friend helped the shot man to reach Holy Cross Hospital, where he was treated. Despite the chaotic circumstances, his condition was listed as good. Police investigation into the incident has yet to net any suspects as the perpetrator remains at large.
