Manhunt in Progress for Suspect Tyreese Quinerley After Fatal Shooting Near St. Joseph's UniversitySource: Montgomery County District Attorney's Office

A manhunt is currently underway for Tyreese Quinerley, 39, wanted for the murder of Jefferson Shackford, also 39, following a fatal incident near St. Joseph's University. Shackford was found shot by the side of the road on Sunday night, a discovery that has since escalated into a full-blown search for Quinerley, according to FOX29.

Details emerged after Quinerley himself contacted the police claiming he had stopped to assist Shackford, nearly hitting him with his vehicle, a green Chevrolet Express van. However, a joint investigation by Lower Merion Township Police and Montgomery County Detectives, and based on surveillance footage and statements from two eyewitnesses, it appears that Quinerley was instead the perpetrator of the violent act, as reported by Patch. The surveillance video caught Quinerley's van driving erratically before stopping at City Avenue and Cardinal Avenue where Quinerley, allegedly got out of the van and, fired two gunshots into his own vehicle.

Authorities said that minutes later, video surveillance recorded Quinerley dragging Shackford from the van and leaving him on the sidewalk. Both witnesses corroborated that the man involved was wearing gray sweatpants, a description fitting that of Quinerley's. According to the District Attorney's office, the van was identified by its Pennsylvania license plate, number MCR4673.

The relationship between the two men is believed to be more than casual, as a female acquaintance told authorities that Quinerley and Shackford knew each other from "the neighborhood," as per PHL17 News. Quinerley, described as a Black male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, and weighing around 225 pounds, was last seen in the aforementioned gray sweatpants and is considered to be armed, and dangerous.

With an arrest warrant out for Quinerley, local enforcement agencies urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward, as the police continue their search for the suspect whom they consider to be a significant threat to public safety. The community surrounding St. Joseph's University remains shocked by the incident, awaiting resolution as the case unfolds.
