A Michigan man has been arrested after being caught with a trove of suspicious items including drugs, ammunition, and a concealed knife in Macomb County. Jessie Webber, 21, was detained on Monday evening in Washington Township. According to The Detroit News, authorities were alerted to a man carrying multiple bags and displaying erratic behavior, loitering around a Porta Pottie.

When deputies arrived, they discovered Webber talking to a resident, appearing quite unsteady on his feet, as the officials pointed out. The Macomb Daily noted that Webber, an Allenton native, claimed he was awaiting a ride while doing contract work in the subdivision. His backpack was found containing bullets for a .40 caliber handgun and a large kitchen knife, paired with numerous pills packaged "in a manner common for distribution".

The suspect was also holding 15 different credit cards, none of which bore his name. Charged with carrying a concealed weapon, manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, and misuse of chemical agents, Webber faces several felonies. The charges carry potential sentences ranging up to five and four years, respectively, for the weapon and drug offenses, and a 93-day sentence for the chemical agents charge. "I applaud the homeowners for being vigilant about suspicious behavior in their neighborhood," Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham praised the situation, in a statement reported by WWJ Newsradio. He labeled the suspect as "potentially dangerous" further.

The bond for Webber has been set at $7,500. Following his arrest, Webber was taken to the Macomb County Jail, where he remains. His next court appearances are scheduled for early May. Notably, court documents do not list any attorneys representing Webber. The case, unfolding in the typically quiet Washington Township, serves as a reminder of the ever-watchful eyes of the community, holding a mirror up to the unexpected dangers lurking where least anticipated.
