Middle Tennessee is bracing for a chilly weekend, as the National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a Frost Advisory. Starting early Saturday morning, residents should watch out for temperatures dipping as low as 30 to 35 degrees, which could result in widespread frost formation. According to the advisory, which remains in effect from 4 AM to 9 AM CDT, Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation.
The advisory encompasses all of Middle Tennessee, including major cities such as Nashville, Franklin, and Clarksville. Despite the impending frost, the day is expected to warm up to a high near 58 degrees, under mostly sunny skies. However, tender plants may be at risk. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered, the advisory warns.
Residents aiming to protect their gardens should take precautions tonight, as areas of frost are predicted to develop after 4 AM. Following the frost, the weather is anticipated to shift favorably with a high near 63 degrees on Saturday and minimal wind. This pattern of frosty mornings and sunny afternoons is likely to persist through the weekend.
Sunday is set to bring warmer conditions, with temperatures potentially reaching 75 degrees, although there's a 30 percent chance of showers after 1 PM. Come evening, showers are more likely, and a thunderstorm could emerge before transitioning to occasional showers and possible thunderstorms throughout the night. Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 1 am and 4 am, then a chance of showers after 4 am.
