Fort Worth residents in the southern sector can expect to see more blue around their neighborhoods as the city's newest police station has officially opened its doors. The Fort Worth Police Department's South Division is now calling 3501 W. Risinger Road home after launching operations there on April 1, the City of Fort Worth announced.
The $20 million facility not only replaces two previous, outdated stations but aims to provide enhanced service capabilities for the burgeoning communities it serves. It hosts an array of law enforcement personnel, including Patrol Officers, Neighborhood Police Officers, Detectives, and the Division Administration. This strategic consolidation is significant as public access to the former facilities at 3128 W. Bolt St. and 7650 McCart Ave ended on March 25.
Emphasizing a blend of functionality and community engagement, the new station design features a welcoming entry plaza, lobby, and community room, which will be available for public events and meetings, officials said. A dedicated public art installation is also set to grace the new building in April, bringing a touch of culture to the precinct's presence.
Financing for the cutting-edge project was part of the 2018 Bond Program, with further support from the Crime Control & Prevention District. Citizens seeking assistance in times of emergency can continue, to rely on the standard 911 service for immediate response. Meanwhile, a grand opening celebration for the new South Division headquarters is on the city's to-do list later this year.
