A tragic turn of events unfolded on Route 195 in Westport, as State Police and emergency responders attended a fatal pedestrian crash involving a 51-year-old New Bedford woman, according to a report released by Massachusetts State Police.

The victim, identified as Sherry M. Henderson, suffered deadly injuries when she was hit by a 2010 Ford Fusion operated by a 21-year-old New Bedford woman, who had remained at the scene to assist authorities; the incident occurred Monday night Eastbound on Route 195, as stated by authorities, and the preliminary investigations indicate the driver of the Fusion was caught unexpected when a vehicle ahead switched lanes forcing the victim into the path of her car.

In a chilling sequence of events leading up to the tragedy, it was revealed by State Police that Henderson had been in a car with her boyfriend, and after an argument ensued, she exited the vehicle and subsequently walked onto the roadway, as per a statement obtained by Massachusetts State Police. Following the incident, the boyfriend left the scene before the arrival of first responders, only to report Henderson's accident to the New Bedford Police later on.
