After nearly three hours of tension, law enforcement brought an end to a standoff at New Braunfels's Vivo Living Apartments late Monday, hauling a wanted man out of his barricade and into cuffs. The New Braunfels Police Department had to shut down a section of the Interstate 35 access road, causing a snag in the evening commute, as they negotiated with the holed-up suspect beginning at around 6:30 p.m. near Loop 337.
Authorities identified the man inside as 27-year-old Tristan Thorne Shier, a local of the area. Holed up inside one of the complex's units, Shier was eventually coaxed out by police after hours of negotiations, with residents of the apartment complex looking on, as reported by FOX San Antonio.
The drama unfolded without any resulting injuries or further incidents, suggesting a measured approach by the New Braunfels PD. Shier, the center of the law enforcement operation, ended his resistance and surrendered to police custody peacefully.
