Bullets rang out in Southeast Portland yesterday afternoon, leaving one man dead and a woman wounded in a shooting incident that has since led homicide detectives down a road of investigation. The Portland Police Bureau reported that officers were dispatched at around 2:08 p.m. to the junction of Southeast 84th Avenue and Southeast Powell Boulevard following a call about the shooting.

Upon arrival, they discovered two adult victims with gunshot wounds. The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the female was quickly transported to an area hospital, expected to fully recover from her injuries. Law enforcement promptly secured the vicinity, shutting down Southeast Powell Boulevard from Southeast 82nd Avenue to Southeast 92nd Avenue to meticulously gather evidence and to accordingly, process the scene.

The investigation is currently spearheaded by detectives from the Homicide Detail. The identities of the victims have not yet been disclosed by officials, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear at this juncture. The Portland police have made no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing.
