
A late-night collision Monday has left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries after they were struck by a pickup truck, authorities said. The Portland Police Bureau reported that the incident occurred at approximately 10:45 p.m., when an officer from the East Precinct discovered the crash near the intersection of Southeast 158th Avenue and Southeast Division Street.
The injured pedestrian was promptly transported to a local hospital after the accident, while the driver of the pickup truck cooperated with the officers, remaining at the scene, according to Portland Police Bureau. In the wake of the incident, an investigative push by the Major Crash Team has launched to probe into the finer details of the crash.
As the investigation unfolds, Southeast Division Street has been closed to vehicular traffic in both directions between Southeast 157th Avenue and Southeast 160th Avenue. The closure is expected to be in effect until the Major Crash Team concludes its scrutiny of the scene.
