Phoenix Sky Harbor Travelers Face Delays as Internet Glitch Disables Self-Service KiosksSource: Google Street View

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport faced a digital dilemma when an internet issue took down self-service kiosks and left travelers standing in extended lines, officials said. In the midst of the chaos, airport personnel worked to mitigate the snarl as passengers flooded social media with reports of the delays, prompting an official response from the airport confirming the disruption.

Airport spokesperson stated, "The kiosks impacted are now back up," and, while acknowledging the unusual lines, assured that "Flights are departing as scheduled," as per a report by FOX 10 Phoenix. Meanwhile, John Trierweiler of the Sky Harbor Airport told 12News that "It appears most of our systems are coming back up," a sign of returning to normalcy although travelers were being funneled to in-person counters during the kiosk blackout, which led to the congestion.

At one point, the setback forced the airport staff to shepherd travelers towards the traditionally slower method of manned check-in counters and it's here where queues swelled in Terminal 3, as travelers jockeyed for positions in a race against time. Amid travelers’ increased frustration, some kiosks began to flicker back to life, and check-ins slowly resumed, according to 12News crews onsite.

The full scope of the internet glitch remained under wraps as Sky Harbor officials did not reveal specifics regarding the root cause of the problem, as the wait times and lines began showing signs of abatement, the technology issues seemed to be getting ironed out as operations crept back to status quo. This story continues to develop as more updates become available.
