Plano's finest were honored at the 49th Annual Awards ceremony, where standout members of the Plano Police Department were recognized for going above and beyond in their duty. In a showing of commitment to community and service, officers and civilian employees received accolades for their exceptional contributions throughout 2023. The awards highlighted those who played a pivotal role in enhancing the safety and quality of life in Plano’s neighborhoods.

Among the lauded was Patrol Officer of the Year, Officer Grace Edgar, who along with peers Officer Alex Scharlau and Officer Amanda Rust, was nominated for their exceptional patrol service. The event, celebrating various categories, also named Detective Chad Williams as the Support Services / Criminal Investigative Services Division Officer of the Year. Officer Brad Flanagan and Officer Jeff Rich had been in the running for, the same accolade.

Sworn Supervisor of the Year was awarded to Lieutenant Clint Walker. He was nominated alongside Sergeant Richard Glenn and Sergeant Ryan Call in recognition of their leadership skills. Emphasizing the importance of non-sworn personnel, the Civilian Supervisor of the Year title went to Property / Evidence Supervisor Michelle Forbess, with Kris Kline and Samantha Perez-Reyes also being standout candidates.

Furthermore, Whitney Meyer took home the Civilian of the Year award, with Maria Bowyer and Mike Whitley acknowledged for their contributions as well. Demonstrating excellence at the start of their careers, Officer Richard Hernandez, Officer Jason Hamilton, and Officer Steven Sacco were nominated for Rookie of the Year, an award that spots new talent and promise within the ranks. The Excellence in Problem Solving category showcased the thoughtful strategies and tactics implemented by Plano's officers, drawing attention to significant contributions made by NPO Team – Shakertin's, Officer Alan Hassan, and the team comprising Officer Jacob Evans, Detective George Johnson, and Mr. Brandon Sailer, among others.

A special Lifesaving Award was presented to Officers Aaron White, Mason Robinson, Alison Renfro, Michael Bogacki, Chris Bush, Ryan Moreland, Jaquay Johnson, Sean White, Jeffrey Jarvi (2), Tyler Gross, and Julia Anderson during quarterly award ceremonies in 2023, each receiving recognition for their crucial, in-the-moment interventions that saved lives. According to the Plano Texas Police Department, these awards solidify the department's resolve and the individual's dedication to serving the public with bravery and quick thinking.
