A street spectacle on Swan Island ended with one man in cuffs and a fleet of impounded cars, as per Portland Police Bureau reports. The incident, which unfolded on Friday night, drew a sizable response from authorities including the North Precinct, Traffic Division, and Air Support Unit.

Police clamped down on the unsanctioned event at approximately 7:50 p.m. on the 6000 block of North Cutter Circle. Enforcers from multiple divisions swarmed too quickly to try and disperse the crowd and detain the offenders. According to KOIN, they executed "numerous traffic stops" on vehicles that were trying to bolt from the scene.

The scenario escalated when officers attempted to immobilize a man performing dangerous drifting stunts in a sedan. The driver, later identified as 23-year-old Carter Morse, initially evaded police, recklessly drove against the flow of traffic and blasted through a red light seeking escape. The chase concluded with officers performing a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver, successfully stopping and arresting Morse. His Cadillac was counted among those seized.

As reported by KGW, the dragnet resulted in no less than a dozen vehicles being towed, marking the crackdown on what was described as an "organized street takeover." Despite the apparent chaos, police managed to restore order on Swan Island, cutting through the night with blue and red flashes as tow trucks hauled away evidence of the evening's lawlessness.

While Portland's streets have seen their share of vehicular hijinks, the confiscation of multiple cars and Morse's arrest signal a tightening noose around such disruptive events.
