Portland's property crime saga took a turn Monday with the arrest of a woman accused of a spate of burglaries stretching across the region, police sources said. Virginia M. Kellison, 38, was nabbed following a search warrant executed by police teams in Southwest Portland's Multnomah and Hillsdale neighborhoods.
During the dawn raid, officers entered an apartment in the 8600 block of Southwest Barbur Boulevard around 5:00 a.m., according to the Portland Police Bureau. Kellison, a local of Portland, is staring down the barrel of multiple charges, including four counts of Burglary in the Second Degree, Theft in the First Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the First and Second Degrees.
Investigators believe that since July of the previous year, Kellison masterminded burglaries at a gaming temple and a consignment shop on Southwest Capitol Highway, with the stolen goods valued north of $50,000. With a criminal net widening, she is also suspected of raids in neighboring jurisdictions that encompass Lake Oswego, Beaverton, Sherwood, Salem, McMinnville and locales in Southwest Washington.
The Portland Police are now sifting through the evidence retrieved in the search, which includes items believed to be linked to the crimes after they searched a closet.
