An off-duty Police Officer, Nancy Dominguez from the Princeton Police Department, tragically lost her life in a vehicle collision on Saturday afternoon in North Texas. Officer Dominguez had been with the department since July 2022, and, was revered for her services and numerous accolades, including the Rookie of the Year awards she received for two consecutive years.

The fatal accident occurred at approximately 5:20 p.m. at the intersection of East Lucas Road and Lakeview Drive, as reported by KENS 5. The crash involved a Ford F-150 which lost traction on the wet roadway, and the Honda Civic that Officer Dominguez was driving, which subsequently struck the pickup.

Dominguez sustained severe injuries and was promptly transported to Medical City McKinney, where the officer was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford F-150, and two passengers, were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police say.

In a heartfelt statement shared on social media, the Princeton Police Department expressed their sorrow: "We are devastated and heartbroken to share the passing of Officer Nancy Dominguez, a dedicated public servant and cherished member of the Princeton community," according to a NBC DFW report. In remembrance, Dominguez's squad car has been placed at the entrance of the Princeton Municipal Center, where it will remain until she is laid to rest.

The Princeton Police further implored the community to keep Officer Dominguez's family, colleagues, and friends in their thoughts during this mourning period. Officer Dominguez's commitment to her community was reflected in her multiple awards, such as the 2023 Life-Saving Award and the 2023 Citizen Commendation Award. A public space for homage has been established at the Princeton Municipal Center where the solemn presence of her squad car invites passersby to pay their respects.
