
In a chilling incident in Englewood, a rideshare passenger became the victim of fatal gunfire early Wednesday morning. The shooting took place around 1 a.m. on the 600 block of West 69th Street, where an assailant in another vehicle unleashed a barrage of bullets into the rideshare car, wounding an unidentified man whose age has yet to be disclosed, as reported by Chicago Sun-Times.
In the mayhem that ensued, the rideshare driver made an urgent 911 call. The unnamed victim was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, riddled with multiple gunshot wounds, he later succumbed to his injuries as reported by the same outlet. The echoes of those gunshots faded leaving behind a disquieting silence—no other individuals were reported harmed during the incident.
Meanwhile, NBC Chicago adds that the police have confirmed the victim as an adult male, initially listed in critical condition before his death. The perpetrator reportedly fired from within a dark-colored sedan, however, the motive behind this violent act remains obscured by uncertainty.
