San Antonio police have taken 38-year-old Chong-Yun Mounce into custody following allegations he posed as another individual on Tinder to prey on women, according to KENS 5. The suspect is accused of orchestrating a meeting with a woman, during which he blindfolded her and engaged in sexual acts. This incident, reportedly occurring on December 17, 2023, took a turn when the woman realized she was with someone other than whom she intended to meet.

Upon her recognition that Mounce was not the white male she believed he was, she demanded he cease, but he refused. Detectives from both San Antonio and Selma police worked together to identify Mounce as the suspect. Mounce also allegedly accessed victims' phones, sending himself money, according to information received by KSAT. Mounce currently faces charges for online impersonation, fraudulent use of identification, and sexual assault.

The police linked Mounce to several similar cases that have been reported since at least September 2023. The San Antonio Police Department has opened the floor, urging "anyone out there who remembers being swindled or tempted by a male who they believe was a white male, and then meeting up with that male and being blindfolded, and being in relations or stolen from" to reach out to their special victims unit at 210-207-2313, as per KENS 5.

Furthermore, a separate incident involved Mounce asking another woman to be blindfolded and tied up at a motel—under the guise, same as the previous case—of being someone he wasn’t. After assaulting the woman, who at some point recognized the deceit, Mounce fled the scene, and she was later discovered by police still bound. This confession came up while he was being questioned by SAPD detectives, as Mounce admitted to the sexual assault, KSAT reported.

With these troubling developments, Mounce faces not only charges in San Antonio but also a warrant out of Virginia. As the investigation continues, additional charges could be forthcoming. Victims and those with further information on these incidents are encouraged by the police to step forward, which could help to ensure Mounce faces the full extent of the law for his alleged crimes.
