A San Antonio man is behind bars after police say he lost his cool in a road rage spat, attacking and slicing another man's face with a knife. The incident turned bloody on the city's far west side, landing the victim in the hospital and the perpetrator in handcuffs, authorities reported.
The knife-wielding road warrior, identified as Samtrell Smith, was nabbed for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the vehicular fracas, an arrest affidavit explained, it all took place around the 13300 block of Culebra Road when, at approximately 11:40 a.m. Thursday, Smith allegedly stepped out of his car, banged on the window of another driver's vehicle, and what began as an exchange of words quickly devolved into a violent encounter – resulting in Smith carving a grizzly trail from his victim's ear to mouth before making his escape, as reported by KENS 5.
As he torched rubber from the scene of the assault, Smith collided with another vehicle that happened to catch the getaway on dashcam, which later helped law enforcement officials put a name to the face and a target on Smith's back by spotting a clear view of his license plate, the affidavit detailed.
