
A tragic accident claimed the life of a man on San Antonio's East Side yesterday evening. The victim, a man in his 30s, was struck by a commercial vehicle on Interstate 10 while attempting to corral his runaway dogs, the San Antonio Police Department reported. Witnesses told police the man pulled over due to issues with his recreational vehicle when his dogs unexpectedly took off, leading to the fatal incident.
Authorities responded to the scene near Dietrich Road just after 10 p.m., where they pronounced the man deceased. According to KENS 5, the unfortunate victim was hit by a propane truck as he chased after his pets. Despite efforts to render aid by the truck's driver, the man succumbed to his injuries at the location.
In the chaotic turn of events, one dog was seriously injured, while the other managed to make it to the side of the road safely. Details surrounding the condition of the injured dog have not been released. The man's identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin, police officials stated.
The San Antonio Police Department, alongside the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS, were present at the scene, with the investigation into the accident ongoing. No charges have been announced against a driver of the commercial vehicle, who stopped to try and assist the man after the collision.
