The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim of a deadly shooting on the South Side of San Antonio. The incident, which culminated in the tragic demise of 27-year-old Xavier Perez, is being investigated as a homicide. Perez succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds after being attacked in the early hours of Friday, as confirmed by officials.

Details from the San Antonio Police Department reveal that around 12:15 a.m., the young man was targeted just after leaving an indoor basketball court at Brook's Inner City Sports. The location, noted within the vicinity of the 100 block of Topeka Boulevard, near South Presa Street, became a crime scene where Perez’s life was abruptly ended. A report obtained by KSAT indicates that the gunshots were followed by the sight of a sedan fleeing the area at high speed.

Despite the delivery of urgent law enforcement responses, Perez was pronounced dead on the scene. As of now, there has been no information disclosed about the assailant or their motives.

The ongoing investigation has yet to yield suspects, and the police are not releasing further details at this time. However, a report by KSAT highlighted the escape of a sedan immediately after the gunshots rang out, hinting at the possibility of witnesses or additional evidence that could come to light. Authorities urge individuals with knowledge of the crime to come forward.
