A grim discovery was made yesterday morning on the South Side of the city, where a man was found dead with a gunshot wound in a crashed vehicle. The San Antonio Police Department, already responding to a robbery at the time, was called to the scene at the 1000 block of Cantrell Dr. upon receiving reports of a shooting, as FOX San Antonio reported.
The vehicle, caught in the throes of a crash with a parked truck in a driveway, contained the body of a 34-year-old man who had suffered a gunshot wound, he was pronounced dead at the scene. A witness told police that the victim was chased by three individuals before a gunshot was heard. A shell casing, which may be connected to the incident, was found on the 1400 block of Hutchins, indicating the possible path of the chase and the shooting.
According to Express News, the three suspects involved in the chase include a 33-year-old man, a 15-year-old boy, and a woman. Despite the chaotic aftermath, authorities have yet to locate the suspects. The vehicle in question had reportedly been involved in a robbery shortly before the fatal shooting, suggesting a possible link between the two incidents.
The area has been scoured by Crime Scene Investigators alongside the Unsolved Crimes Enforcement Division, in search of evidence that could shed light on the night's tragic events. Detailed investigations are ongoing, and police have made it clear that the victim's name will not be released.
