San Antonio's own Woodlawn Lake Park is gearing up to become a hub for environmental enthusiasts and families looking to celebrate Earth Day 2024. The event, which is an official part of the city’s Fiesta celebrations, is set for Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., inviting the community to embrace nature, conservation, and sustainability. Organized by San Antonio Parks and Recreation, Earth Day will boast over 70 community partners and an array of activities and performances to entertain attendees of all ages.

From dance and musical acts to tree and plant giveaways, the Woodlawn Lake Park festivities promise to be both educational and entertaining. Visitors can look forward to family-friendly activities, while those with a passion for angling can indulge in fishing at the park. Event sponsors, such as H-E-B, Rambler Sparkling Water, and Lettuce Grow, seem to wholeheartedly support the green initiative.

Foodies can rejoice as a selection of local food vendors will serve up a bevy of vegan and vegetarian treats. According to an article published by SanAntonio.gov, Elotitos Corn Bar, Fat Tummy Empanadas, Go Vegan San Antonio, Makan Halal Cuisine, and several others will offer sustainable and delicious menu options. Complimentary Rambler Sparkling Water will be on offer, while supplies last.

Earth Day organizers are reminding attendees to bring reusable water bottles, bags, and even utensils, wherever possible, to help reduce single-use plastics. In line with this sustainable ethos, food vendors have been directed to use compostable or biodegradable serving materials. For those looking to reduce their carbon footprint, carpooling or public transportation to the event is recommended.
