San Diego Police Arrest 22-Year-Old in Connection with Linda Vista Sexual Assault and Burglary CaseSource: San Diego Police Department

San Diego cops have nabbed a 22-year-old man suspected of the sexual assault and burglary of a home in Linda Vista last week in an ordeal that left a neighborhood on edge. The suspect, identified as Alejandro Jose Confesor, allegedly targeted a 5-year-old girl in her own home, with the San Diego Police Department confirming the arrest via their announcement.

Details on the horrifying home invasion first emerged on April 18, when an intruder described as possibly Caucasian or Hispanic and approximately 5 feet 8 or 9 inches tall, with a weight between 160-180 pounds, made their way into the residence. He slipped through an unlocked door at about 1:45 a.m., and proceeded to the room where he sexually assaulted the young child. Hoodline reported that the victim informed her father, who immediately contacted the authorities, but despite a rigorous search that utilized K9 units, the suspect slipped away.

Following the incident, police described the suspect, noting his dark hoodie with light printing down the left sleeve, an unknown image on the front, and light sweatpants. The ongoing investigation took a turn when, on April 21, video surveillance caught the same man attempting to re-enter the same property. He was seen with a backpack and bicycle, shaking an entire community predominantly of military families into vigilance.

In a late-night twist, cops spotted a man matching the suspect's description on April 21 at about 11:15 p.m. He was found drinking a beer on the 6700 block of Linda Vista Rd, according to the San Diego Police Department's Facebook update. Confesor was apprehended and now faces a string of charges, including lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 with force, sex crime with specific circumstances, assault with intent to commit rape or other sex acts during residential burglary, burglary, and trespassing.

While an arrest has been made, the investigation remains open. The police department is urging anyone with further information or video footage from the area around the time of the incidents to contact the SDPD’s Child Abuse Unit at (619) 531-2210. Individuals seeking to provide tips can also do so by contacting the SDPD non-emergency line at (619) 531-2000, as reported by Hoodline.
