Having fled when his supposed victims sought help, the knife-wielding suspect was spotted approximately an hour later back at the scene. The officers tried stopping the suspect, a pursuit ensued, with the man running towards a business crowded with people, wielding a knife. Attempts to subdue him with a Taser were made before officers resorted to using their firearms.

The suspect was transported to Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle but did not survive, being pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. As per Express News, details about the man, in his 20s, have yet to be released and the number of officers involved in the shooting or their identities remain undisclosed by San Marcos Police.

The shooting is under rigorous examination with the Texas Rangers Division, the San Marcos Police Department Criminal Investigation Division, and the San Marcos Police Department Office of Professional Conduct, leading the inquiry. No other injuries related to the shooting have been reported at this stage of the investigation.
