An extensive search operation was underway on Thursday in the White Tank Mountains following reports of a deserted vehicle that could potentially be linked to a person missing for some time. Local authorities, spurred into action by reports of a vehicle parked for an extended period at the White Tank Mountains Regional Park, failed to find anyone inside the parked car. With scant details available, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office deputies disclosed that the vehicle might belong to the missing individual.
According to a statement released by FOX 10 Phoenix, the search was initiated after concerned passersby noticed the vehicle's prolonged presence in the park. In a concentrated effort to thoroughly search the region, deputies were dispatched and a helicopter was engaged to swiftly provide overhead support, scanning the rugged terrain from the skies above.
The exact location of where the car was parked or where the search is being focused has not been disclosed by the authorities. Likewise, no additional information concerning the potential link between the vehicle and the missing person has been released to the public.
The search in the area, including near the campgrounds, marks yet another chapter in the ongoing attempts to resolve missing persons cases that sadly frequent natural parks and remote areas. In a report provided by AZ Family, the vehicle was first spotted by a witness on Thursday at around 12:30 p.m., leading to the immediate response from the sheriff's office. Deputies arrived to find the vehicle empty and have been diligently working to cover all possible leads.
