Seattle's clear skies are set to take a brief hiatus this weekend, as clouds and raindrops gear up to make an appearance. Residents enjoyed a calm and cool night, with temperatures holding steady around 45 degrees, but the weekend outlook suggests a turn from the recent stretch of dry weather, the National Weather Service's latest forecast indicated.
Friday promises to be the calm before the storm, flaunting sunny skies and a high of 67 degrees. As winds shift from the northeast to the east, locals might want to take advantage of the favorable conditions. Because, starting Saturday, the likelihood of rain creeps in at 30 percent after 11 am, growing to a near certainty by nightfall, the NWS Seattle detailed forecast showed.
Those gusts of wind, which could hit up to 21 mph by Saturday night, are ushering in more than just the rain – they're a precursor to a cooler, unsettled pattern. The chances of rainfall continue, topping at 90 percent Saturday evening, with new precipitation amounts expected to be modest.
Plunging into Sunday, the NWS predicts a noticeably cooler high around 56 degrees and a 60 percent chance of showers throughout the day. This sprinkling of rain might give way to clearer skies by Sunday night, but the respite could be fleeting. The upcoming week appears to dangle between dry spells and the chance of more rain, the forecast states.
As workweek blues return on Monday, the sun is expected to break through, although temperatures will hover close to 59 degrees. The clouds, however, aren't committing to a full departure, with Tuesday and Wednesday both presenting a mix of sun and potential showers. Seattle's residents can't seem to catch a break from the umbrella-worthy weather with Thursday also hinting at the possibility of rain.
