Residents of Southwest D.C. are urged to be on alert following an attempted armed carjacking incident. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the event took place late Wednesday night when a food delivery person was accosted by three individuals seeking to steal his vehicle.

Information provided by the MPD’s First District indicates the incident occurred around 11:50 p.m. on April 24, in the 1100 block of 4th Street, Southwest. The victim, engaged in the routine task of delivering food, was confronted as he was returning to his car. In a bold move, one suspect presented a firearm, pointing it squarely at the victim and demanding the keys to the car.

Displaying crucial awareness and quick thinking, the victim managed to escape the harrowing encounter unharmed. Their departure was not without consequence, however, as one of the assailants resorted to using the butt of a gun to smash the car window. Subsequently, the suspects fled the scene on foot, leaving the area without the vehicle.

Detectives are now turning to the public for assistance in tracking down a suspects involved in the crime. Security footage and eyewitness accounts are currently being compiled as part of the ongoing investigation. The authorities have yet to release detailed descriptions of the individuals involved or updates on any potential leads.
