Stumptown Coffee Roasters has just brewed up a new spot in downtown Portland, opening its doors on April 20. This marks the third Stumptown location in the downtown area, joining others such as the storefront in the Ace Hotel and the original flagship cafe. Situated on the ground floor of the elegant 11W building, at Southwest Washington Street and 11th Avenue, the latest addition to Portland's coffee culture is already causing a stir among caffeinated locals.

The interior of the new Stumptown showcases a "Japandi" aesthetic, conceived by Portland design firms Studio Butch and Green Rabbet Builders Design. The new cafe features warm woods, and bento box-inspired lighting, and has positioned itself as a "Love Letter" to the city, according to Willamette Week. A standout feature is the kintsugi art piece by SGK, which metaphorically represents the city of Portland healed by golden lacquer.

During the week of its grand opening, Stumptown didn't just rest on its laurels but teamed up with environmental nonprofit SOLVE to host a trash clean-up event. The event encouraged Portland residents to start at their existing shop on Southwest 3rd Avenue and make their way to the new 11W building, picking up litter along the way. This community initiative reflects a commitment by Stumptown to not only serve quality coffee but also to play an active role in revitalizing downtown Portland.

"A lot of us are just happy to get out and invest our time back into the community," volunteer Blaine Porth-Henderson said, as reported by KGW. Enthusiastic volunteers at the clean-up event noted witnessing a "slow turnaround" for the downtown area. Porth-Henderson added, "We're really starting to have a variety of resources, businesses, multi-family environments in this neighborhood. It's so great to see all the growth happening and taking place." This sentiment underscores the shared sense of optimism for the neighborhood's future.
