Sunny Respite for Seattle, Clear Skies and Warmer Temps Until Weekend Rain ReturnsSource: dnak, CC BY 2.0, via Wikimedia Commons

The weather gods are giving Seattle a brief respite from the usual gloom, with the National Weather Service promising a stretch of sunshine and clear skies kicking off today. According to NWS Seattle, the mercury is set to hit a comfortable 63 degrees amid calm and sunny conditions.

However, as the city's residents know all too well, all good things must come to an end. The clear skies are slated to stick around through Friday boasting even warmer temps with a high near 68 and folks will be under blessedly starry skies at night as the temperature dips to around 42, but the weekend promises to shake things up with a dicey forecast that has a 20 percent chance of rain after noon on Saturday and by night, the likelihood of precipitation ramps up to a near-certain 80 percent, so don't put those umbrellas away just yet.

Seattleites will have to brace for the usual mixed bag with the NWS Seattle forecasting rain developing into showers as the weekend progresses; while Saturday night may bring rains mainly before 3 a.m., there's a chance of lingering showers after. Sunday cools down to a high of 55 with a 50 percent chance of the wet stuff and it won't be much better come Sunday night when it's partly cloudy and hovering around 42 degrees.

The schizophrenic spring weather is set to continue into next week, Monday offers a temporary reprieve with mostly sunny skies and a temperate high near 60, but it's back to cloud cover and the potential for showers come Tuesday and Wednesday keeping Seattlites on their toes, but at least, for now, they can enjoy a few fleeting moments of vitamin D and dream of the summer months ahead.
