Harris County law enforcement officials have reported the arrest of Tyreq Sanders, suspect in the murder of 30-year-old Gary Houston. After a period of elusive absences from the grip of the law, Sanders was apprehended by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Crime Reduction Units. According to a post from Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the suspect, born on March 5, 2003, had been previously identified and charged by HCSO Homicide Investigators but had evaded capture until now. Sanders has since been processed at the Harris County Jail, and officials do not anticipate further arrests in connection with Houston’s murder.

In a separate incident, chaos took over a portion of Lee Road at the Eastex Freeway due to a multi-vehicle crash. Preliminary reports from the scene suggest the disturbing possibility that amongst twisted metal and shattered glass, a person may also have fallen victim to a gunshot wound.

"I’m out in the field and headed to the 14200 blk of Lee Rd @ Eastex Freeway. Preliminary reports of a multi-vehicle crash and one person may be shot. Information not yet confirmed," a statement by Sheriff Gonzalez. Early indications have not yet been confirmed.

Sheriff Gonzalez has made it a point to ensure the public remains informed as these stories develop.
